ABSTRACT

Most people develop mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19, but some people develop severe symptoms, leading to hospitalizations. The objective of the research was to analyze the prevalence of confirmed cases of COVID-19, hospitalization for this disease in Intensive Care Units, and the occupancy rate of beds resulting from the same in these units in the municipality of Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso. This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach, with data from secondary sources of epidemiological bulletins in Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso, from June 2020 to May 2021. The average number of hospitalized cases per month and the occupancy rate of intensive care beds were calculated. All cases reported with COVID-19 and hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of public hospitals in the municipality were included. Analyses were performed with R Software and the chi-square goodness-of-fit test and Kendall's correlation were performed. A total of 28,443 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the study period, with the highest average of hospitalizations in the intensive care unit in the public health network was in May 2021 (n=51.1) and the bed occupancy rate was in September 2020 (129.17%). In all regions analyzed in comparison with this study, the ICUs operated in a state of calamity with high occupancy rates. A relationship between the increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations and occupancy rates of Intensive Care Units was identified, which are findings that indicate the need to control COVID-19. © 2022 Centro Universitario Sao Camilo. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Confinement has adverse psycho-social as well as dietary repercussions. During the pandemic there was a higher consumption of processed and canned foods, in-creasing the consumption of omega 6 (co-6) and probably de-creasing the consumption of omega 3 (co-3).Objective: To determine the relationship between knowl-edge and dietary habits about omega 3 and 6 in university students from Ecuador and Peru during COVID-19.Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out in 134 Ecuadorian and 215 Peruvian students. Data were obtained from a virtual questionnaire with questions on knowledge and dietary habits about ca-3 and ca-6. Spearman's Rho, Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis statistical tests were performed. Results: A correlation coefficient of knowledge and eating habits on ca-3 and ca-6, Rho=0.146 (p=0.092) and Rho=0.081 (p=0.235) was obtained for the samples from Ecuador and Peru, respectively. In Ecuadorian students, there were differences in the levels of knowledge about ca-3 and ca -6, both in males and females (p=0.007). In both countries there are different levels of knowledge in the different spe-cialties of the study (p=0.004).Conclusion: There is no correlation between knowledge and eating habits about ca-3 and ca-6 in university students of Health Sciences in both countries. Students from Ecuador present insufficient knowledge and inadequate dietary habits about ca-3 and ca-6, more than Peru.

ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the historical construction of the Expanded Family Health Center (NASF, in Portuguese), based on the analysis of 17 documents edited by the Ministry of Health (MH) between 2005 and 2021. This is a qualitative study of documental review that seeks to understand how the regulations and official instructive ma-nuals have been shaping the way NASF teams operate. It proposes to divide the NASF construction process into five periods: previous move-ments (2003 to 2007);support guidelines (2008 to 2011);the universalization of nasf (2012 to 2015);expansion of support (2016 to 2018);and the dismantling of NASF? (2019 to 2021). The results show changes in guidelines over the years of the team’s existence, especially in relation to the matrix support concept and its two dimensions: technical-pedagogical and clinical care. This study also demonstrates the effects of the Previne Brasil Program on the NASF, which resulted in the reduction of 379 teams in 2020 and 2021. Ad-ded to this scenario is the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, which may be repositioning NASF interventions in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS, in Portuguese).

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Eating habits and sleep quality in university students are very changeable due to various factors, among them the confinement product of COVID-19, directly affecting health. Objective: To determine the association between eating habits and sleep quality in university students in times of COVID-19, Lima-Peru. Methods: The study was cross-sectional and correlational, university students participated and completed surveys on eating habits and sleep quality. The statistical analysis used the Chi-square test and Spearman's Rho to evaluate the association. Results: 300 students participated, 32.7% had "inade-quate" eating habits, 33.3% "adequate";likewise, 32.7% of the students obtained a poor sleep quality level. There is a relationship between both variables (p<0.001);with a weak association (correlation coefficient 0.370;p=<0.001). Conclusion: There is a relationship between eating habits and sleep quality in students of public universities in Lima. It is recommended that universities carry out timely diagnosis and educational interventions in nutrition and mental health while maintaining COVID-19 restrictions.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to describe the epidemiological profile and the spatial distribution of deaths and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the health macroregion of Western Bahia. An ecological study on the inland expansion of SARS-CoV-2 was performed from March 21, 2020 to March 31, 2021 considering incidence and mortality rate, case fatality rate, case density and moving average of cases and deaths. 37,036 cases and 536 confirmed deaths were registered. Of all cases, 94.5% recovered and 4.0% remained active. The incidence rate was 3884.1/100,000 inhabitants, the mortality rate 56.2/100,000 inhabitants and the fatality rate was 1.4% A predominance of very high and high intensity of the occurrence of COVID-19 in the macroregion was identified and moving average revealed an increasing trend. Findings show a high risk of infection and death in the macroregion, in addition to a growing trend in accumulated cases, confirming the inland expansion of the disease.

ABSTRACT

Primary health care (PHC) is an important resource for facing issues associated with psychological distress. Thus, this essay aims to discuss mental health (MH) in PHC in the face of the covid-19 pandemic. Besides bringing to light old problems related to the assistentialist and medicalized logic of the MH care, the pandemic upholds practices that underutilize and disregard PHC potentialities as a care provider in a political-economic scenario of power struggle, which encourages the privatization of public services. Such power play influences care provision, especially in chaotic scenarios of injustices and inequalities – fertile ground for covid-19 spread. This context evinces the need for taking a closer look at the effects of MH on PHC, since managers, professionals, and users can be plunged into the so-called “white blindness”. Thus, recognizing the legitimacy of knowledge, values, and desires that move different types of workers and users is crucial;that is, understanding MH as a relational field in constant movement. Likewise, bringing a glimmer of hope by promoting reflections that turn on the lights so that this care approaches integral care is also important. © 2021, UNIV SAOPAULO. All rights reserved.
